The challenge

For over a decade, the Washington State Auto Dealers Association blocked every attempt to extend EV direct-sales rights beyond Tesla. Polling showed nearly 70% of Washingtonians backed direct sales, but that latent support had to become pressure on Olympia.

The campaign

Rivian deployed CiviClick to mobilize Washington EV owners and consumers with story-driven, individualized messages to legislators. Faced with a flood of authentic constituent stories, the dealer association reversed position, and Governor Ferguson signed SB 6354 in March 2026, opening direct sales to Rivian and Lucid.

“Chazz, you’re awesome. Rivian couldn’t have broken up Tesla’s monopoly without the support of CiviClick.”
